Q: Are agencies eligible for Entry?
You may enter one campaign which ran across multiple MENA countries but you must clearly separate results on a country to country basis or you may chose one country which you feel represents the campaign best. For e.g.: "MENA Fresh Milk" in Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. You can enter one time with the entire campaign separating out results of each country or with the results of the best performing country. Please note AGGREGATED RESULTS ACROSS THE THREE COUNTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
If your campaign also ran in countries outside of the MENA region, then the data you submit in support of your application must relate to the results that were achieved in MENA Region Only. Aggregated data from an international campaign will not be accepted. If your campaign ran in multiple countries - including non MENA region - it may be eligible to enter the Global Effie Award. Refer to www.effie.org for entry information. The Effie Awards reserves the right to re-categorize entries, split categories and/or refuse any entry at any time.
Q: Are the awards open to companies operating outside of the Middle East?
Yes as long as the campaigns have run within one or more of the following MENA territories: GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen, Sudan, and Egypt between 1st July 2010 - 31st July 2011. Each entry's data should be by country; data should not be aggregated over several countries. (Please see above Q about territories) We welcome entries from regional organizations, from multinational corporations which have opened offices and subsidiary businesses in the MENA region, as well as companies which do not have a presence in the region but which have run campaigns in one or more of the following MENA territories: GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen, Sudan, and Egypt. Q: Are there any revenue criteria for eligibility?

Yes. Q: Can I enter my campaign in more than one category?
Yes. You will need to complete a separate entry form, submit a separate set of creative samples, and pay a separate entry fee for each category that you enter. However, Best New Product Launch is not allowed to enter into the Product & Service Categories.

Yes.
Q: What if my campaign ran in Arabic or French?
Non-English language campaigns are very welcome. In these cases the entry forms must be completed in English and supporting marketing materials which were originally in Arabic or French must be accompanied by written English translation, eg TVCs to be subtitled in English and written translations in English of all copy/radio scripts/online material should accompany each piece of marketing collateral
Since the judging panel also comprises marketing experts from within the region, there will be mother-tongue Arabic (written & spoken) and French speakers there throughout the day.
Q: If I want to withdraw my entry will that be possible?

Q: Will I get a refund?
No. The GEMAS effie Mena Awards issues refunds only when the submitting company has overpaid or been incorrectly charged.

Q: Can I change my entry after it has been submitted?
No.
Q: I would like to submit an entry but the data corroborating its success is highly confidential. What can I do?
Q: Will GMR publish the results/campaign details?
Shortlisted entrants maybe required to submit a short video clip or topline results for the Gala Presentation - this will be deemed to be in the public domain and therefore eligible for publication in any Mediaquest or Effie Organisation media. Results and case studies may be published by any Mediaquest print or online publication including GMR, its special editions and gmr-online unless otherwise stated by the entrant. If the entrant does not wish specific data relating to the entry to be published then it is the responsibility of each entrant to notify the managing editor of GMR, Ms Siobhan Adams, by email which data is not for publication siobhan@mediaquestcorp.com no later than 6th October 2011. It must be noted however that all materials from shortlisted entrants which is shown at the Gala Presentation is deemed eligible for publication by Mediaquestcorp and Effie Worldwide Inc.
Creative material becomes the property of the Effie Awards and will not be returned. By entering your work into the competition, the Effie Awards is automatically granted the right to make copies, reproduce or display the creative material, including the 4-minute video, for education and publicity purposes.
Q: Will the Effie Organisation have the rights to publish material from the entry materials?

Q: How were the judges selected?
The judges are acknowledged experts culled from the various marketing disciplines and are selected from the clientside, from agencies and other marketing disciplines including research and media planning. They work across the region as well as internationally. They also represent both regional companies and multinational organisations.
Q: How are the entries judged?
They are judged in strict accordance with the International Effie rules. www.effie.org To ensure absolute transparency and integrity there will be an independent observer from KPMG throughout the judging responsible for the handling and securing of all written materials relating to the results, for compiling the score reports and certifying to the accuracy of the scores within the report. There will also be a representative from the Effies Organisation in New York to ensure strict adherence to all Effie judging procedures and rules.
Q: When will I know if my entry has been successful?
Winners are not revealed until Gala Presentation Ceremony on the evening of 24th November 2011
Q: If my campaign wins is it automatically eligible for entry into the Global Effies?
If your campaign ran in multiple countries it may be eligible for entry into the Global Effie Awards. Please refer to www.effie.org for entry information.
